Help us improve brain health
We believe that microglia can be harnessed to: 1) Preserve cognitive function during aging, 2) Reduce the risk of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's Disease and Parkinson's Disease and slow disease progression, 3) Break the links between early life adversity and later life risk for anxiety, addiction, and other mental health challenges. You can help us carry out the foundational basic research that is needed to unlock the neuro-protective potential of these amazing cells.

Support an experiment
Donations of $20-$200 can buy lab supplies to support a wide variety of experiments. For example, fluorescent antibodies allow us to label and "see" microglia via microscope imaging. The image above is a microglial cell and analysis of its lysosomes - critical intracellular organelles that break down protein aggregates that accumulate during aging and neurodegenerative disease.

Support molecular discovery
Cutting edge, comprehensive analysis of microglial genes and proteins through RNA sequencing (transcriptomics) and mass spectrometry (proteomics) is one of the most powerful approaches for discovering molecules that can be targeted to elicit microglial protection of neurons. Donations of $2,000-15,000 can generate new transcriptomics and proteomics datasets for discovery of new therapeutic targets.

Support a scientist
The indispensable magic ingredient in all our work is the Ph.D. students and Postdoctoral fellows who spend years carrying out experiments / analyses and whose creativity and dedication help uncover how microglia function and how these cells can improve and preserve brain health. Donations > $20,000 can enable one of these young scientists to keep working toward transformative discoveries.
